Father’s Day, Melbourne Trip , Stylist’s Outfits, 4 things I’d never leave the house without and Many More !!!

Hello Beautiful people I’m baaaaaaaAACCCKKKK !!

Now where did I leave you guys ? I think it was fathers day right ?

Well I hope everyone had a great Father’s day, because I know I sure did !

It was such a beautiful warm sunny day, so my father and I adventured out to the Windsor markets along with my brother and his wife.

Beautiful vintage clothing, quaint finds, farm fresh fruit and vegies, spices, wooden dollhouses, freshly baked breads and sweets – it was like a town of it’s own – very different to the Sydney City. We then set out for a lovely walk down by the Hawkesbury River.

I love going to markets, no mater what location they are in. It’s a good way to see unique things, young talents, or even a smaller dose of something regular !

My favourite boutique from the Windsor markets was this cute vintage-style clothing stall called Indi Rose.

Here’s a little snap

IMG_1011

Not having quite a market fix yet – we head back to Rouse Hill Town Centre for their monthly Sydney Boutique Markets.

IMG_1014

The cutest baby clothing stalls, inspirations hard goods, and plenty of fashion and accessories !

One of my favourites was this really cool accessories stall – Doury accessories !

Now when I first saw the pieces laid out on the stalls tables, besides thinking my goodness how elaborate and extravagant, I thought my goodness that would be so heavy !

As I reached down to pick it up, it was the complete opposite ! The pieces were in fact ,very lightweight, and very soft laser cut leather !!

So creative !

Peacock Necklace - $65

such pretty designs !

Chantilly Orchid Necklace - $95

Quill Necklace - $30

Ranging from $20 – $95 why not splurge on something innovative like this next time you need to purchase a new accessory !

MELBOURNE TRIP ❤

So as you know, I recently went to Melbourne to sort out some business, visit some friends, retail therapy and of course SPRING FASHION WEEK.

The night before Melbourne was hectic, I had a lot of design work to do – Top secret project ❤

and I only really finished everything and cleaning up by about 11.

I guess packing wasn’t so hard when I had actually literally bought my outfit a MONTH AGO ! hahaha

I’m not even kidding, the jacket I wore, I saw it, picked it up and immediately thought, this is EXACTLY what I’ll wear to Fashion week … and about 5 minutes later, I swiped my card and the machine spat out my receipt – BRILLIANT !

Mum and I arrived Monday morning to the airport and just as checked in for our flight and went passed the security I finally saw where Victoria’s Secret in Australia had been set-up !

IMG_1042

For those of you outside Australia, in the US, who have Victoria’s Secret in just about every mall… you are so damn lucky !!

I ran in expecting to go nuts at all the bra’s on my WANT list… and no bras …. everything but the bra’s.

Body mists and lotions, sure ! handbags, wallets and sunnies, yerp ! even underwear.. in fact everything but the bra’s…

Though I must say it is still pretty good for those ( like me ) who need a quick fix and replacement every now and then !

❤ ❤ ❤

Tuesday –
Retail Therapy and Fashion show time !!

So I have been quite impatiently waiting for Topshop to open in Sydney, and well the most exciting part of the morning was heading down to Melbourne’s Chapel Street for some awesome Retail Therapy.

IMG_1056

Top shop had a great range of studded/spiked bags, shoes, boots and just really damn good collections all over the store – I went crazy when i walked in actually, because I kept seeing things I liked and didn’t know whether to start from the left, the right or what.. blaaaaa !

I actually really liked the accessories range that top shop had and I bought myself a beautiful new cuff ❤

IMG_1082

Surprisingly I didn’t buy much though, Oh I’m so proud of myself – I really am ! hahaha I usually come back with double luggage and plenty of carry on !

OH and there were so many trends I saw !

1 – the neon’s, were still in,

2 – the pastels not far behind them.

3 – Mullet- high/low tops and dresses,

4 – Floral printed Jackets, tops, dresses,  and Denim and reflective graphic print tees in bold bright colours.

5 – *Embellished collars*,

6 – soft summer relaxed knits and

7 – STUDS, SPIKES AND MORE STUDS&SPIKES !…

[[and guess what my new pair of shoes have on them… SPIKES – ohh yeahhhh !!! ( Trend spikes posts coming soon )]]

Right opposite Topshop, was something a little more familiar.

URBAN by Target.

image

Urban by Target is Target’s new smaller store format, that gives city shoppers access to a specifically tailored selection of Target’s great style.

It’s located at 500 Chapel Street, Melbourne so why not head by for  the best of Target’s fashionable ladies wear, footwear, accessories, intimate apparel, kids wear and babywear, as well as a small range of menswear.

…and I chose to play dress-ups ❤

IMG_0920

Grazia’s range for Hot options – A beautiful light turquoise sheer shirt with contrasting White collar, and tab. For more on-trend detail there was studs on the collar – I LOVED IT !

#2

IMG_0924

There was also this super-cute Boucle turquoise and gold dress by Grazia !

I absolutely loved this one as you can easily dress it up !

It comes with a gold belt, so you can chuck on a pair of gold heels or pastel colour blocked wedges and a matching bag and off you go. or you can dress it down with some sandals and a loose knit cardigan. It’s perfect for summer !It kind of reminds me of a classy summer lunch dress ❤

to purchase this dress simply click here

#3

IMG_0927

Before I even tried this dress on, I was completely sold !

It’s the perfect lightweight summer dress !

You can dress it up with some black or coloured wedges. The trick with picking what colours to match it with lies solely in the colours of the dress. You can never go wrong with you stick with hues within the print. For example with this dress, A turquoise, or purple even a nice pink would have matched perfectly if you didn’t ant to stick to the black that was already a given by the included belt !

After strolling and shopping down Chapel Street we then headed to a secret location – the MDP Jewels den  to check out Matthew Pourhags new range of Fashion jewellery and accessories.

IMG_0939

I absolutely loved this top from the second I laid eyes on it !

It’s a chic, classic black and white top.

My favourite – with a collar, an embellished black collar with metal plates !

It also has shoulder pads for some extra Ooomph ladies AND  The back is longer than the front.

I love this style of mullet top not only because it has my favourite – an embellished/collar but because the length of the shorter front isn’t a ridiculous midriff length.

It’s a nice balanced mullet ( so if you’re conscious of that ass ladies– this is the top to buy ! )

It’s selling for $79.95 with only a few sizes left guys, so if you like it – get in quick and BUY IT.

Here’s the DEETS !

FINALLY TIME FOR OUTFIT 13 !

FLORAL BLAZER | SO EXCITING !

Floral Print Blazers are SO HOT RIGHT NOW !!!!!

IMG_0999

So lately I have been getting into buying blazers, no not just your plain ones but florals, neons and anything that stands out !

I mentioned earlier in the post that I had chosen my outfit – right well this is that beautiful blazer I was rambling on and on about !

It is coincidently from the Grazia range at Target. IT is a gorgeous tailored fit with a single breasted design and contrasting black  collar and welt pockets.

This blazer is the highlight of the beginning of MY SPRING !

There are so many colours within the pattern that is is actually so easy to match things to it.

Turquoise, lime, fuchsia, purple, mint, yellow ! all of which are so easy to find and are available in pretty much any store !

With styling this outfit, I chose black bottoms because we all know how much I hate choosing/buying/trying on bottoms and comfortable black summer wedge heels.

I was originally going to wear a plain black top underneath but instead decided to go with my “out there” option i had brought along from sydney.

My plain lime green top.

I chose this top because it contrasted well with the black and crazy floral pattern and it was also easy to accessorise, as you can see I have put on my long orange beaded necklace.

The lime green top is actually quite easy to find – just have a look at any of the stores/boutiques in the shopping centre.

It’s quite on trend and in demand so someone has got to have one that tickles your fancy.

If you still can’t find one – head over to Supre’, Bardot, Sports girl or Target.

To purchase this Blazer simply click here

IMG_1003

I also wore my new coral pink coloured lipstick = ]

Here are Bianca and I showing off our pink shades – oh yeahhhh !

IMG_1001

Just being all classy and that !

There were so many of them around the City so we though why not ?!

and well… we pretty much head home for some nice dessert and again to pack to be off in the morning !

5 Things I never leave the house without !

So the past few years I’ve realised that these 4 items NEVER EVER come out of my back– even when I’m switching bags – they come along !!

and no I’m not talking about your phone, makeup, your wallet, or them keys !

Here’s my FOUR !

# 1 – Band-Aid Tough Strips – fabric sterile strips |

why ? | Because you never know which part of your shoe will annoy you AND the normal plastic Band-Aids don’t do anything for you, they easily come off making your sore worse !

I always apply mine the second I put my foot in my shoe – and wherever feels annoying I BANDAID IT – oh yeahh…

#2 – Mints – Because sometimes we don’t know what we’ll have to eat and who we’ll have to meet up with afterwards !

#3 Hand Sanitiser – Because you never know what you’re going to have to touch ! [yes I’m a massive germ-a-phobe]

#4 Body wipes – Because you may need to refresh after a long day

TRUST ME – I’m totally NOT crazy = ]

VFNO

So last night I went to Vogue’s Fashion night out !

It was a great night – plenty of music and Dj’s, food and drinks, Topless models, lots of fashion and great sales as well as some famous faces!!

Unfortunately my battery went flat so I don’t have any pictures at all besides this one from Sports girl !

I absolutely loved this when I saw it ! So cute and the perfect dog for the Pastel Trend ha ha !

IMG_1081

The weather was beautiful, nice and warm and not too much wind either and that brings me to my outfit

A quick little Stylist’s outfit 12 – casual yet pretty !

I actually wore this dress to Vogue’s fashion night out last night with a black cardigan and sandals.

IMG_1075

( Sorry – I don’t have full body shots because my battery ran out – boo hoo!)

As you can see, that’s my loose knit cardigan – perfect for summer. It’s very lightweight which means that if it gets even hotter you don’t have to take it off and carry it around. It actually kept me even cooler and it was quite hot in the city yesterday.

I’ve also worn my Fuchsia Bourgeois lipstick with this outfit.

for shoes, a comfortable pair of sandals or flats.

For a bag – I took my new black and white tote that I also bought from the Urban store.

It also comes in another colour way – beige, coral and white.

If you are not a Tote kind of person this beautiful colour ways also come in a clutch style.

Romance was Born | The comic Book comes to life !

I think it was late 2010, Mid October when I had the pleasure of working with Luke Sales and Anna Plunkett for a day at there Studio on Oxford Street.

I’ll never forget their cluttered studio – cluttered in a good way of course ! It revealed the source behind their inspirations and creativity. It was filled with many beautiful trims, creatively embellished  props and pieces, inspirational images, colourful fabrics and collections. Without having studied them intensely, I could already see what talents they both had !

I began to fall in love with them more and more. The more I saw their logo, their designs, their runways the more they both inspired me !

During this time of year I’m usually wrapped up in fashion week – assisting designers, stylists as well as dressers backstage, however this year I took a step back and decided to sacrifice what I love doing every year (as I’m sure there are so many more events I can do this at) and focus more on major work.

This morning, as I turned on the television, my fashion fix sprung to a new high !

Not sure if you all know but Mercedes Fashion week has started here in Sydney, Australia and guess who opened the show – yes ROMANCE WAS BORN !

The comic book came to life with Romance was born’s collection !

Superhero styled hair and makeup, graphic prints, pop art, geometric stripes, it was all very 60’s, very fun and I loved every bit of it !

Here’s a few pictures from the show.

Couture On Ice

Hello Hello – And I’m back into it again.

As you’ve probably all noticed I haven’t blogged in awhile. This is because I decided to take a few weeks off after the show to do what normal people do … Work, Shop, more work, more shopping…see absolutely normal… ( what ?… It’s Christmas ha-ha and besides I did good )

Amongst that there has been farewells, girls night out, and a new one to the life of rhy … a time for a love to blossom. And this time I’m not referring to shoes, a new outfit or a timeless tiffany charm, I am in fact referring to the actual thing itself  … a boy !

My last post was just before the fashion show – all the crazy hustle bustle deadlines before show time !! The fittings went well and as for the show itself – It could not have run any smoother.

It’s the greatest relief – the greatest reward after all that to have your collection on the catwalk for people to view. Because I guess only you know what it took to get yourself there.

Here’s a few shots from the day/night taken from our very own Raffles Facebook page as well as some of my own.

enjoy !

Mens and Womens | Marking Day

IMG_8066

IMG_8067

Just a quick shot from the marking day | Full story here.

Mens and womenswear | Part un

One of my most favourite parts within designing a collection is the fabrication. I could spend Days, even weeks just looking at different fabrics, textures, weights and contents. It fascinates me because you have to have a great eye not only choosing the appropriate fabric but also colour for the season and collection. You not only have to make the sketch come alive but you have to be able to tell a story, to make sure people understand and most importantly its flow.

For my mini men’s and womenswear collection “amore amore” alot of thought went into the fabrication. It’s a very important part depending on which way you work – whether you select your fabrics first then design, or vice versa.

For the women’s collection I wanted to focus more on accentuating feminine curves and mixing it up with a touch of androgyny such as masculine tailoring which is very evident in my ladies dress. It’s very two faced – in the sense that you look at it once and you say “wow she looks gorgeous, an absolutely stunning feminine piece – great shape”, but then you look at it again and you say to yourself “man I should step back – she’s in charge” – There’s a big boom of dominance in the female pieces ! Their trendy yet edgy !

Coming to fabrication – Feminine fabrics such as sheer silk organza’s and laces were a priority as well as mixing it up with a completely opposite  heavy, authoritative, and grunge yet expensive clean look, the fabrics that shouted that out were genuine leather and real fur. Driving from one wholesaler to another in Sydney, trying to find what it was that I Loved and wanted the most – I must say It took forever but the reward the journey brought was great ! There is a bit of quilting evident within my designs which I think is a very strong element of masculinity as well as leather slashing !

The men’s look was kept very basic in design but it is the busy fabrication that will give you that touch of luxury as well as making you stand out from the crowd. For the men’s pant piece I chose the classic 5 pocket styled jean and for fabrication it will be a very crazy random tie dyed red and burgundy denim. I’ll keep it quiet on the men’s look and just surprise you all when the time comes !

The colours I chose for the looks for the brie are very “amore amore”. Burgundy and deep reds with a splash of live reds and black. At the same time, you can’t allow yourself to get too crazy because it’s a RTW collection so people have to be able to wear it on a day to day basis.

It was good to have been designing for FW 12 – stepping away from last years summer themed briefs. I really do enjoy my course and for those of you who think it’s all fun and games and dress ups – its honestly not – I must say those who have turned around and said that to me really don’t understand ! – That shirt you’re wearing – yes even those designer pants ! It has taken someone through a very stressful yet enjoyable journey and has been successful enough to make it into stores and into your closet ! Appreciation for the industry, whether you like that designers style or not – I appreciate it … Do you ?

It’s been a very long journey for me this semester, considering my operation – I’ve had some time off from it all trying to recover ( which i might add – slow process much !!), I’m really looking forward to next week back – I’ll have three weeks to re-work my patterns – those that need to be fixed – then to be re sampled/toiled, and finally to produce the actual collection – EEEEKKK !!! the amount of pressure and stress – I’m sure you’ll hear from it on my blog !

Cannot wait to share the collection with you !

p.s Check out the beautiful Lace samples I got ! The first is a French Lace, followed by Guipure Lace which is the one I’ll be using as it goes well with the amore amore -  blood/veined theme. Bot

Having received the luckiest chance to be able to work behind-the-scenes at such a spectacular show it truly became an amazing experience. I worked closely with Stylist Jono Nicholls and JBP productions staff, to casting and fitting models, arranging looks and sections to bring to the public a “not to be missed opportunity for Sydney fashionistas”

The morning was a fairly crisp one and everyone’s fingers were crossed that the rain wouldn’t ruin the outdoor experience at Circular Quay’s Customs house. As the crew put together the last of the 44 metre catwalk and seating the sun began to warm things up.

Backstage, the hardworking hair and makeup artists from Napoleon Perdis, as well as the brilliant dressers (including of course yours truly) were assisting with the pampering up process of the 100 models that were to star on this runway. We went from perfecting the sections, and organising the running order to taping all the beautiful shoes provided from Brands like Ellery, Peep toe, Guess, and Tony Bianco. Finally it was Show time, getting the garments perfected on the models in running order and ensuring things were running smoothly.

Having a Sharp eye for design details and labels, I not only fell in love with half the collections on show but I also realised that Ladakh was amongst the gorgeous garments. With the Runway Being a complete success, we can shop selected Ladakh items from Westfield like never before, all our favourite brands in the one spot. “Unlimited shopping, One Checkout”.
