So if you haven’t already guessed, today’s trend topic is NEON. Below is my lovely sister-in-law sporting this trend.
Vana wears this BOLD neon lime Lace top from Bardot. It has a super cute black tie up bow at the back and also a very nice timeless scalloped edge on both the hem and sleeves. Matte black A-line mini skirt from label Whitney Eve.
Accessories !
She has accessorised her look with a big Michael Kors Tote Bag.
She also wear a Silver Jewelled Necklace to tie in the look.
When accessorising with neon Lace it is important to remember not to overdo the entire outfit.
There is no need to bling it out excessively. Just one simple Necklace will do if the neckline allows it, as there is already a lot going on in not only the lace pattern but the colour too.
Now I know it’s usually a Summer trend, which is now frequently seen on icons and bloggers in the northern hemisphere. ( Wish we were enjoying it with you too boohoo!) but you can always bring it back during winter to add a nice pop of colour to your outfit.
Actress and Blogger Ashley Madekwe recently blogged a similar look.
Ashley wears a playsuit made from neon lace, faux leather and ruffles. I couldn’t have thought of a better combo in a playsuit myself !
I absolutely love when lace and leather are combined in pieces, it gives it character – it becomes more of a statement piece.

I have also created A StyleBook on Style Saint dedicated to Neon. Search me, “Rhaya Ratavosi” on stylesaint and it should be on my profile if you scroll down ❤

Get on-trend for 2013 !
While high fashion may do well on the start of year catwalks, predicting which will be the key looks to filter down to the high street can be difficult. Surprisingly, popular looks from recent seasons include the Peplum, which exploded onto the high street in 2011 and has not lost any momentum as we passed through 2012. In terms of shoes, creepers and the more elegant creeper style platforms have been massive on the streets as fashion continues to reclaim the sixties via the nineties.
oo la la ! We LOVE peplum !
So what’s going to be big this year?
Let’s find out what the key predictions are for 2013:
Paisley might be the only print to be seen in for 2013. Try a paisley-print cotton sundress for when the weather warms up, or a slick shirt teamed with mannish trousers to work two trends at once.
Don’t panic: if paisley isn’t your thing, you can choose between geometric or floral prints to stay on trend. Fashion icons should be Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton (as well as the women of Mad Men) and look out for citrus colour prints for the ultimate homage to sixties fashion.
Floor-length gowns are going to be big this year and creating an elegant silhouette is going to be key. This season’s dresses have to go all the way down to the ground. Look out for kimono-style gowns for the ultimate in opulence.
Oh my Goth! Goth continues to be influential this year but don’t let it get you down. Colours are black and white, obviously, and choose leather to maximise the 50 Shades of Grey influence.
Let’s go on a space odyssey as all things futuristic and sci-fi enter our collective fashion consciousness. Think metallic, still trending from 2012,Ziggy Stardust, glitter, and try some silver shades for you footwear.
Well I hope that covered it for you all and has inspired more wardrobe fun and style for ‘13
Three words that I’d use to describe former Hills star Lauren Conrad.
(No I’ve never met her – but Yes I’d absolutely love to!)
Now if you’ve been following this blog you’ll know I absolutely love “The Hills” especially my two favourites – Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port.
Watching their lives unfold and blossom on television, without gettting carried away (cough-Heidi-Cough), has inspired me, it’s made me fall in love with their determination, and their on-screen personality, as well as being able to relate to their busy fashion-focused lives. I believe that Lauren and Whitney, Today, are two great examples of educated talented, growing women who are living their dreams and are working hard at them. Everytime I’m feeling a little uninspired or unfocused about fashion I think of them and what they’ve both achievedd in such little amount of time and it “rejuvinates” me haha !
so I’ll get to the point now – What has caught my eye recently was the sneak peak preview of Lauren’s Spring 2013 Collection for Kohl’s.
The below images are of Lauren in a few pieces from that very own Collection as she beautifully shows them off for us !
I’m totally loving all the polka dots and the very vintage vibe of the shoot.
The Colour palette is also a perfect way to kick start that Spring wardrobe and to add some nice fresh pieces to the autumn/winter wardrobe you’d have. ( Unfortunately we’re heading out of Summer here with our last month of Summer – Sighs… I’m going to miss these scorching hot summer days…until they come by again)
Fresh forest greens and vibrant pinks have been used on some really great statement pieces. They’ll liven up any outfit.
Hope you loved her collection as much I did !

So i got a little sidetracked this morning but it’s okay – all for good reasons…
Here’s something from Chanel I absolutely loved !
Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2013 Haute Couture Show videos ! Karl Lagerfeld CLEARLY has not lost his touch and I don’t think he ever will – Absolutely Loved the runway and the setting.
Now where did I leave you guys ? I think it was fathers day right ?
Well I hope everyone had a great Father’s day, because I know I sure did !
It was such a beautiful warm sunny day, so my father and I adventured out to the Windsor markets along with my brother and his wife.
Beautiful vintage clothing, quaint finds, farm fresh fruit and vegies, spices, wooden dollhouses, freshly baked breads and sweets – it was like a town of it’s own – very different to the Sydney City. We then set out for a lovely walk down by the Hawkesbury River.
I love going to markets, no mater what location they are in. It’s a good way to see unique things, young talents, or even a smaller dose of something regular !
My favourite boutique from the Windsor markets was this cute vintage-style clothing stall called Indi Rose.
Here’s a little snap
Not having quite a market fix yet – we head back to Rouse Hill Town Centre for their monthly Sydney Boutique Markets.
The cutest baby clothing stalls, inspirations hard goods, and plenty of fashion and accessories !
One of my favourites was this really cool accessories stall – Doury accessories !
Now when I first saw the pieces laid out on the stalls tables, besides thinking my goodness how elaborate and extravagant, I thought my goodness that would be so heavy !
As I reached down to pick it up, it was the complete opposite ! The pieces were in fact ,very lightweight, and very soft laser cut leather !!
So creative !
such pretty designs !
Ranging from $20 – $95 why not splurge on something innovative like this next time you need to purchase a new accessory !
So as you know, I recently went to Melbourne to sort out some business, visit some friends, retail therapy and of course SPRING FASHION WEEK.
The night before Melbourne was hectic, I had a lot of design work to do – Top secret project ❤
and I only really finished everything and cleaning up by about 11.
I guess packing wasn’t so hard when I had actually literally bought my outfit a MONTH AGO ! hahaha
I’m not even kidding, the jacket I wore, I saw it, picked it up and immediately thought, this is EXACTLY what I’ll wear to Fashion week … and about 5 minutes later, I swiped my card and the machine spat out my receipt – BRILLIANT !
Mum and I arrived Monday morning to the airport and just as checked in for our flight and went passed the security I finally saw where Victoria’s Secret in Australia had been set-up !
For those of you outside Australia, in the US, who have Victoria’s Secret in just about every mall… you are so damn lucky !!
I ran in expecting to go nuts at all the bra’s on my WANT list… and no bras …. everything but the bra’s.
Body mists and lotions, sure ! handbags, wallets and sunnies, yerp ! even underwear.. in fact everything but the bra’s…
Though I must say it is still pretty good for those ( like me ) who need a quick fix and replacement every now and then !
❤ ❤ ❤
Tuesday – Retail Therapy and Fashion show time !!
So I have been quite impatiently waiting for Topshop to open in Sydney, and well the most exciting part of the morning was heading down to Melbourne’s Chapel Street for some awesome Retail Therapy.
Top shop had a great range of studded/spiked bags, shoes, boots and just really damn good collections all over the store – I went crazy when i walked in actually, because I kept seeing things I liked and didn’t know whether to start from the left, the right or what.. blaaaaa !
I actually really liked the accessories range that top shop had and I bought myself a beautiful new cuff ❤
Surprisingly I didn’t buy much though, Oh I’m so proud of myself – I really am ! hahaha I usually come back with double luggage and plenty of carry on !
OH and there were so many trends I saw !
1 – the neon’s, were still in,
2 – the pastels not far behind them.
3 – Mullet- high/low tops and dresses,
4 – Floral printed Jackets, tops, dresses, and Denim and reflective graphic print tees in boldbright colours.
5 – *Embellished collars*,
6 – soft summer relaxed knits and
7 – STUDS, SPIKES AND MORE STUDS&SPIKES !…
[[and guess what my new pair of shoes have on them… SPIKES – ohh yeahhhh !!! ( Trend spikes posts coming soon )]]
Right opposite Topshop, was something a little more familiar.
URBAN by Target.
Urban by Target is Target’s new smaller store format, that gives city shoppers access to a specifically tailored selection of Target’s great style.
It’s located at 500 Chapel Street, Melbourne so why not head by for the best of Target’s fashionable ladies wear, footwear, accessories, intimate apparel, kids wear and babywear, as well as a small range of menswear.
…and I chose to play dress-ups ❤
#1
Grazia’s range for Hot options – A beautiful light turquoise sheer shirt with contrasting White collar, and tab. For more on-trend detail there was studs on the collar – I LOVED IT !
If you would like to purchase this top or would like to view it in colour simply click here
#2
There was also this super-cute Boucle turquoise and gold dress by Grazia !
I absolutely loved this one as you can easily dress it up !
It comes with a gold belt, so you can chuck on a pair of gold heels or pastel colour blocked wedges and a matching bag and off you go. or you can dress it down with some sandals and a loose knit cardigan. It’s perfect for summer !It kind of reminds me of a classy summer lunch dress ❤
Before I even tried this dress on, I was completely sold !
It’s the perfect lightweight summer dress !
You can dress it up with some black or coloured wedges. The trick with picking what colours to match it with lies solely in the colours of the dress. You can never go wrong with you stick with hues within the print. For example with this dress, A turquoise, or purple even a nice pink would have matched perfectly if you didn’t ant to stick to the black that was already a given by the included belt !
❤
After strolling and shopping down Chapel Street we then headed to a secret location – the MDP Jewels den to check out Matthew Pourhags new range of Fashion jewellery and accessories.
Rose gold finds ❤
lots of colourful necklaces and unique earrings and necklaces.
AND he recently launched his new add-on … *Clothing * hooraaa
and guess who was the first to try on and buy… oh yeah..
me = ]
I absolutely loved this top from the second I laid eyes on it !
It’s a chic, classic black and white top.
My favourite – with a collar, an embellished black collar with metal plates !
It also has shoulder pads for some extra Ooomph ladies AND The back is longer than the front.
I love this style of mullet top not only because it has my favourite – an embellished/collar but because the length of the shorter front isn’t a ridiculous midriff length.
It’s a nice balanced mullet ( so if you’re conscious of that ass ladies– this is the top to buy ! )
It’s selling for $79.95 with only a few sizes left guys, so if you like it – get in quick and BUY IT.
After all that shopping, we had to head home and it was time to put or fashion week outfits on and strut out !
Here’s our shots from fashion week !
The next nine shots are from couturing.com – thought I’d chase up some non-blurry frontal shots.

the final walk !

In her beautiful vintage pink Suit set !
Casually “Streeting” it out !
FINALLY TIME FOR OUTFIT 13 !
FLORAL BLAZER | SO EXCITING !
Floral Print Blazers are SO HOT RIGHT NOW !!!!!
So lately I have been getting into buying blazers, no not just your plain ones but florals, neons and anything that stands out !
I mentioned earlier in the post that I had chosen my outfit – right well this is that beautiful blazer I was rambling on and on about !
It is coincidently from the Grazia range at Target. IT is a gorgeous tailored fit with a single breasted design and contrasting black collar and welt pockets.
This blazer is the highlight of the beginning of MY SPRING !
There are so many colours within the pattern that is is actually so easy to match things to it.
Turquoise, lime, fuchsia, purple, mint, yellow ! all of which are so easy to find and are available in pretty much any store !
With styling this outfit, I chose black bottoms because we all know how much I hate choosing/buying/trying on bottoms and comfortable black summer wedge heels.
I was originally going to wear a plain black top underneath but instead decided to go with my “out there” option i had brought along from sydney.
My plain lime green top.
I chose this top because it contrasted well with the black and crazy floral pattern and it was also easy to accessorise, as you can see I have put on my long orange beaded necklace.
The lime green top is actually quite easy to find – just have a look at any of the stores/boutiques in the shopping centre.
It’s quite on trend and in demand so someone has got to have one that tickles your fancy.
If you still can’t find one – head over to Supre’, Bardot, Sports girl or Target.
why ? | Because you never know which part of your shoe will annoy you AND the normal plastic Band-Aids don’t do anything for you, they easily come off making your sore worse !
I always apply mine the second I put my foot in my shoe – and wherever feels annoying I BANDAID IT – oh yeahh…
#2 – Mints – Because sometimes we don’t know what we’ll have to eat and who we’ll have to meet up with afterwards !
#3 Hand Sanitiser – Because you never know what you’re going to have to touch ! [yes I’m a massive germ-a-phobe]
#4 Body wipes – Because you may need to refresh after a long day
TRUST ME – I’m totally NOT crazy = ]
VFNO
So last night I went to Vogue’s Fashion night out !
It was a great night – plenty of music and Dj’s, food and drinks, Topless models, lots of fashion and great sales as well as some famous faces!!
Unfortunately my battery went flat so I don’t have any pictures at all besides this one from Sports girl !
I absolutely loved this when I saw it ! So cute and the perfect dog for the Pastel Trend ha ha !
The weather was beautiful, nice and warm and not too much wind either and that brings me to my outfit
A quick little Stylist’s outfit 12 – casual yet pretty !
I actually wore this dress to Vogue’s fashion night out last night with a black cardigan and sandals.
( Sorry – I don’t have full body shots because my battery ran out – boo hoo!)
As you can see, that’s my loose knit cardigan – perfect for summer. It’s very lightweight which means that if it gets even hotter you don’t have to take it off and carry it around. It actually kept me even cooler and it was quite hot in the city yesterday.
I’ve also worn my Fuchsia Bourgeois lipstick with this outfit.
for shoes, a comfortable pair of sandals or flats.
For a bag – I took my new black and white tote that I also bought from the Urban store.
It also comes in another colour way – beige, coral and white.
One of my favourite sites/online stores is The Grand social. I love getting their emails because I always get to see whats new from different designers AND there’s always something I love. It’s not just clothing though, they have accesories too !
The run down | The Grand Social is a marketplace for Australian and NZ designers. They aim to get the creations of labels online, so they can be sold. For Those of you who like going to stores, The Grand Social also has their very own store. It’s located in the heart of Darlinghurst and is a multi-purpose space for designers and friends to showcase their creations. The store is open Tues – Sat 11AM – 5PM at 214 Crown St, Darlinghurst. Ph:(02) 9331-0995. To find out more check out their website here.
So I recently did some styling workshops for Target, where I had to mix and match part of the Target essentials range with other pieces to come up with gorgeous key looks for the coming seasons !
Target Essentials is a basics range by Target. It consists of business pants and shirts, denim, tops, and basic singlets that come in various colours and are a reasonable price.
We mixed and matched these items with core autumn/winter garments such as fur vests, colourful dresses, maxi skirts, printed shirts, oversized tops and winter woollen pieces. Majority of the looks were under $100 and if not that then $150. Which is great for a whole outfit including shoes, handbags and other accessories. A lot of people think that to be stylish means that you must wear designer, however it’s not about that at all – its about the way you piece things together, the final look, the composition. To have great style and a sense for it can give you a feeling that’s just as great.
The two main issues that were present during the workshops were more to do with consumers being concerned about budget and being in doubt about wearing/how they would wear certain colours within the coming trends.
If you like following trends and you still aren’t sure what colours to be wearing these coming seasons maybe this will help – Autumn/winter colour palettes: think | burgundy, browns, eggplant, teal, reds, tangelo, and Blacks. Fabrics include Ponte, leathers, laces and sheer garments. Details/appearances include various collars, lots of prints – two main = leopard and snake.
That just puts it very BASIC for you all – I think that’s enough for now haha
One last thing – As part of this blog entry today, I thought it would be nice to come up with an under $100 look myself with all the Teal accessories I have come to purchasing.
Enjoy !
Think style and budget–and voila under $100 outfit !
Dress from NastyGal – not available anymore – however there are some other great dresses that are on sale ranging from $17.95 – $35.95 That you could get.
Bag from Asos – not available anymore ? However there are similar styles in Turquoise, white, pistachio snake, nude snake, and red snake. I’ve pasted the picture of their current clutch below – they look quite similar
The snake range of slot through envelope clutches like the one above are $32.45 – click here to view
Shoes – Teal heels and leopard flats from Target (click on “target” in the first sentence of this post and contact your nearest store to see if they have it)
After crazily editing our videos and spending hours and hours picking a song that tickled my fancy, I finally did it !
I promised all you beautiful people footage of my Fall/winter 2012 Amore Amore RTW collection so here it is !
I hope you all enjoy it – because I know my team and I sure did.
Like any other fashionista I have a weakness for shoes !
The bigger the better !
Big platforms, unusual wedge cut-outs and shapes, fierce looking features – an easy way to add a touch of KABOOM to any outfit !
What I’ve been eyeing for some time now would have to be Jeffrey Campbell’s, one-of-a-kind, YES READ IT AGAIN “one-of-a-kind” platforms. I know we say that about every pair of shoes, but if you ask anyone who owns a pair, or knows of them, they would most definitely agree with me ! Not only that, but they are so uniquely designed that you can spot a pair of JC’s from a mile away !
So in case you hadn’t heard of Jeffrey Campbell here’s a few quick notes to save you the embarrassment and awkward silence if its ever, EVER on topic !
Hailed from none other than ( my favourite) L.A
Their designs are based on vintage inspirations as well as combining runway/fashion trends.
Sold across all of Asia, Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand and the list goes on as they continue to grow.
Hope that helps, however if you’d like to read more on JC’s Bio Click here !
One of my Favourite and regular online shopping destinations NASTYGAL also stocks them ! What caught my eye the most this week was these 3 pairs ! It’s Naughty Meets nice, an attitude Splice !
Like the shoes above ??? Check out NASTYGAL’s collection and more from their Jeffrey Campbell range here
or better yet, if you live in OZ like I do, then head down to your nearest Tuchuzy store and check them out !

There comes a time at the beginning of the year when a women (in this case ME and probably you as well ) needs a little something called RETAIL THERAPY.
Retail Therapy occurs when an individual is experiencing such things as depression, Shopping Withdrawals etc.
This very common disorder (specifically after/during the Jolly Christmas and New year season) is referred to as, (what I LOVE to call) Post-NYE depression.
It is a form of depression that most commonly effects women rather than men. It mostly occurs after the period of Christmas to New years and reaches its peak on new years day until about well… The time you purchase something, Many things…preferably online ( because you can have a zillion tabs open and shop from a zillion places at the one time – “PANTS HEAVILY AT THE THOUGHT OF IT – MOOD: ECSTATIC” !) to ease that sector of your brain that bleeps out every once in awhile begging for some retail attention.
Other cases of Depression that also result to Retail Therapy include :
Pre/post-exam Depression : When one is far to stressed to deal with “anticipation”, of an exam paper or the results, often resulting to procrastination at pre stage and anxiety yet relief at post stage. One can always busy themselves at the “mall” by window shopping/purchasing and also “check-out” stage if done via online shopping. This process takes hours as it helps block out any negative energy built up from an exam.
Post Relationship-was-a-Fail Depression : When one is simply depressed due to a failed relationship and/or sudden breakup. Individuals often result to copious amounts of food which is also referred to as “demolishing”, as well as isolation and/or I’m-a-tough-soldier-let-the-next-one-come-at-me stage. After This, ( heroic imagery) a lady steps up and faces the world with her wallet because fashion doesn’t stand still for heartbroken suckers !
Pre-important-Event Depression: The “oh I have nothing to wear”,or “oh I can’t fit into anything” phase – grouped as whinging with mild tantrumitis in most women. This particular one covers many areas. ( Post – NYE depression is a sub category of this)
Many women (within this group are also referred to as Shop-a-holics) come up with such excuses, some of them you may have heard or may have come out of your own mouth:
Yes but I don’t have it in (whichever colour)
I don’t have anything to wear
I shared a coke with my Wardrobe, had a deep-and-meaningful conservation , made a promise to it that I’d replenish stock.
I’m Fat
None of them fit me
It’s so Last season/It’s So last year
I want something new
I’m depressed
I can’t help it – its a sickness
PAY DAYYYYY
Everyone has already seen me wear everything ( Dam Facebook tagging !!)
My shoes have to match the handbag which has to compliment my dress which has to be appropriate for the evening, then we have the hair that works with the makeup and i need a jacket in case its too cold and if that doesn’t work then… oh never mind – its too complicated let’s just get a whole new look for the evening ? yeah ?
Symptoms
Symptoms include ( before and during) :
Sadness ( not feeling spoilt and special)
Distracted
Low self-esteem.
Constantly on shopping apps.
“Watching/stalking” certain items and/or beings.
disturbed vision – e.g Seeing Chanel handbags instead of clouds.
immense ogling ( to individuals with colour blocked outfits or desired items).
Rage upon others (who buy your shoe size out in the only colour it comes in).
Hallucinating from the smell of pure leather.
Drooling at the touch of fabric and luxurious textiles.
mood swings combined with Hyperventilation and ecstatic-ness ( often occurs during checkout).
Obsession (with websites and certain stores).
Caressing/conversing with the credit card.
withdrawals (of anything) .
Sleep and eating disturbances.
Muscle pain in the calf/leg region from excessive walking in Shopping centres
Throwing tantrums at Clothes Racks, Registers or at people working at the store.
The art of being Oblivious (Maxing out and avoiding credit card bills)
If this is starting to sound like anything you are experiencing or have experienced don’t Fret, You are not alone, It happens to everyone
You may not experience all or any of the above but it doesn’t mean your hands aren’t itching to get themselves on some new items for a) the sake of it b) the health reason as discussed above or c) all of the above.
Cures
No Medication can be taken.
The only cure is to fulfil your Shopping urges.
To help with the process of curing your withdrawals and coming out of the POST-NYE depression bubble I have Listed some online Hotspots – So Please, set yourself a limit, Take out that credit card, Crank up the volume on your recent playlist and Browse away – There are millions of items waiting to be owned … BY YOU !

Founded in 1992 and launching their first mail order catalogue and website online in 1998, Lifestyle Brand Anthropologie now operates Stores worldwide.
When I visited Los Angeles in 2009 (A very memorable Californian Spring) the store touched my arty farty side. The clothes, the interiors, the books, the quirky and colourful home and design items – it all expressed a certain “artful” lifestyle which I fell in love with. The clothes are probably not my style, although they are great relaxed pieces, clothes you know that you’ll be comfortable in no matter what – the books and the atmosphere are great – it definitely has a unique style !
Whilst Laying on my bed, surfing the net – recovering from surgery – I decided to have a little browse at their awesome online catalogue. I’m a sucker for books !! ESPECIALLY anything on fashion design and Paris ! VOILA ! Just the perfect book(that I’d also been wanting for awhile) – Ines de la fressange’s “Parisian Chic”. Impatiently waiting for my new book to arrive, I decided to add a lovely Turquoise Leather Journal to my Basket !
Date: Monday 7th November
Status: Overwhelmed with college work.
What?: Parcel arrives ! – And guess where it is from – YEP ! Anthropologie it is !
Sent over quick and easy – and the book – my god the book ! Read it in a day and I LOVED EVERY BIT OF IT. Short and sweet with great pictures and a sense of “fun” and inspiration highlighted throughout the book.
I honestly recommend it to every female out there who loves anything to do with fashion and style, travel and most importantly "Parisian Chic”. Inés de la Fressange – who according to the blurb is “French’s icon of chic” shares her personal tips on travelling within Paris, listing stores and attractions for every occasion as well as tips on style, beauty and fashion – even something for the home. It really does have everything you need– hotels, restaurants, tiny tucked away boutiques, great places to buy things and unusual places. She allows us to be apart of her “ secret Paris”.
The book is short and sweet with great pictures and a sense of “fun” carried throughout it.
Intrigued ? Why not order a copy from Anthropologie now ?
